Evendale-Blue Ash Pet Hospital provides on-site ultrasound exams for cats, and dogs in Evendale, Blue Ash, Sharonville, Glendale, and surrounding municipalities. Pet ultrasound technology allows Dr. Goodman to see what’s going on inside your furry friend in a non-invasive manner.
Ultrasound technology is an imaging technique that helps diagnose internal medical conditions in animals. At Evendale-Blue Ash, we use veterinary ultrasounds to analyze a variety of pet conditions:
- Abdominal—to identify foreign bodies, tumors, or masses in the abdomen.
- Urinary—to diagnose renal and bladder complications such as kidney stones and urinary tract infections.
- Cardiac—echocardiograms can highlight problems in the heart and blood vessels.
- Reproductive—to check for pregnancy.
What to Expect
Ultrasounds are painless and no radiation is involved. Most pets stay calm and relaxed during the procedure so there’s rarely a need for sedatives.
Please make sure your pet doesn’t eat before an abdominal ultrasound exam. Ultrasound waves cannot pass through the food in the stomach, causing shadowing, so the images produced will be unclear. We also carefully shave your pet’s hair or fur before the procedure to ensure the ultrasound wand makes proper contact on the skin.
Ultrasound technology helps avoid unnecessary surgery and allows vets to quickly rule out specific medical issues, which can save a pet’s life in emergency situations.
